Our last session of 2025 is here and we're focusing on creating a warm welcome for your next public meeting!
I'm excited to share some insights from my recent experience in an Athenian Dialogue centered around "The Art of Gathering," an interesting book by Priya Parker that delves into how we can make our meetings more meaningful. Through this book and our discussions, I gained a deeper understanding of how public meeting attendees might sometimes feel overlooked or unwelcome because they aren’t familiar with our traditions, procedures, or expectations.
With this in mind, I've put together a digital welcome mat that is displayed before each Council meeting, and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you! I'll walk you through how to create an autoplay presentation in Canva, and for those who prefer, I'll also guide you on how to achieve the same results in PowerPoint.
